Artist's Description

I prudently planted you in precarious conditions.
I need your seasonal variety near
To validate my own varied transitions.
Large stones chipped and sandy soil dulled my trowel.

Your tightly bound bud unfolds for a brief visit.
The exquisite blossom enjoys the attentive approval
Of every nurturing eye.

Elegance fades quickly
To accumulate quantities of quaint herbage.

I watch your greens
Wither into remote securities
As your perennial breath buries itself
Beneath the expired surface
To protect next June’s delicate purple.
