It's easy in today's world, with even the most sophisticated cameras sporting image stabilization, color corrections, and auto focus, to assume that professional photography is just a camera click and wa la! a beautiful image that your followers will drool over on social media will create an abundance of print sales and populate workshops.
The business of photography is just like any other business. After the camera's turned off, the images need to be processed, the website and social media need to be updated, the conferences given and taken, the contacts contacted, the books kept, the taxes paid, and hey it's your turn to cook dinner!
So my morning begins on a stool topped with a pillow (for my grandma buns) and I go to work. I play with the condensation gathering on the back window as the sun comes up, at times with stunning color, most times not. I play with the settings on my camera. About Deborah Hughes
The camera is an appendage through which I explore the desert with an aim to create artistic images of my experiences in the landscapes where I live using natural light and color, incorporating abstract and impressionist compositions. All abstract and impressionistic images created in-camera.
